If you aint heard of Catskills Records you may have heard of some of their recording artists the list includes, Bushy, Hardcandy, Pepe Deluxe, Feature Cast, Nylon Rhythm Machine, Black Grass, Capsule, Nobody, Huskey Rescue and Sonorous Star. Sonorous Star are brothers (and Catskills label co-owners) Khalid & Amr Mallassi AKA Baby Fish Lips and Peter Panache. Sonorous Star released the critically acclaimed "Bullets and Bad Dreams EP" in 1998, and then? nothing! Well, not quite. Running Catskills has meant that making music has had to take a back seat although in that time they have contributed tracks to both the highly successful "Fantastic Four EPs" as well as concentrating on remix work including tracks for Spacer, Bushy, Pepe Deluxe, Bonobo and Eminem to name but a few. They have managed to pull it together enough to contribute the new track 'This Dark Heaven' to the recent Catskills Scoop 3 compilation. Also, you can catch their tracks sound-tracking various adverts on the idiot box for anything from headache pills to pregnancy testing kits. Who says they ain't keepin' it street. Na'mean?

Catskills Records was formed 1997 by a London/Brighton collective to release underground talent from their home turf. The label represents the best that both scenes has to offer, and has since spread it's wings to other parts of the UK with Bushy, Zero Theory, Sonorous Star, Feature Cast The Mexican, Vibra and now to Europe and the rest of the world with the signings of Capsule from Germany as well as Pepe Delux?nd Husky Rescue from Finland.
Unlike other record labels there is no formula, no particular style and no particular genre of music that represents Catskills. They've said it before and they'll say it again loudly for the people in the cheap seats; "it's all about the Head Nod Factor (tm), if it's got it then we'll spin it 'til it breaks our necks".
